All you Need to know about High Pressure Laminates

Wooden laminates is a misnomer for wood grain laminates. As we know Laminates are made of Paper and not wood. Wooden laminates or Wood grain Laminates are primarily used as furniture surface and wall panel. These can be manufactured as either high pressure laminates or low-pressure laminates. Both of these are not much different from one another except for the amount of pressure applied.

High pressure laminates in India are manufactured by applying pressure not lesser than 1,000 psi (70 kg/cm2). Generally, the pressure these laminates are subjected to ranges between 1,200 psi to 2,000 psi (80 to 140 kg/cm2). High pressure laminates have resin impregnated cellulose layers that are consolidated under heat and pressure. The process makes laminates tougher and more durable, which makes them ideal to be used at different spaces.

The innovation and uniqueness of wooden laminates or Wood grain Laminates are not restricted to the manufacturing process. These are widely popular because of their other properties. Have a look at the characteristic properties of wooden laminates which sets them apart from traditional plywood:

1. Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal:
The pressure and heat applied during the manufacturing of laminates act against the bacteria that might be present on the surface. The final touch given during the polishing includes the use of various coatings and adhesives that further stops the bacterial colonies to grow and flourish.

2. Fire resistant and flame retardant:
There are a number of safety standards that go with the laminates. However, for a majority of standards, high pressure laminates in commonwealth countries including India adhere to British Standard 467 especially the part 6 and 7.

3. Other properties:
High pressure laminates in India are designed to meet the needs of the masses. These features are diverse and unique. Wooden laminates in India are impervious to moisture and insects like termites and borers. These are also boiling water resistant, which makes them a good choice for kitchens.

These are some properties which make wooden laminates stand out from the crowd. To top it all off, major brands in the country are offering these laminates in a plethora of colours to go with any setup and every personality.

Knock Knock, It's Your Door

People today have become very active when it comes to decorating their houses. From furniture, to lighting, to windows, every aspect of interiors has become a subject of keen interest and similar has been the case for doors. There has been a rise in the demand of decorative doors, besides the regular sturdy and durable doors. However, there is a huge range of doors in different categories that are still not well-known. For a quick sneak-peek into the different types of doors that are available in the market, take a look:

1. Flush Doors:
Flush doors are manufactured using high grade plywood boards and are popular for their superior strength and durability. Flush door prices varies for different flush door manufacturers and also depend on the thickness of the door. These doors have a smooth surface and hence are easier to clean. While being durable and long-lasting, Flush doors are also impact and bang resistant and hence become an obvious choice among the consumers. Flush doors display resistance to termites and borers and stay in shape even when exposed to varying temperature and moisture. CenturyDoors is a leading Flush door manufacturer in India, they are present across India and are known for their superior quality.

2. Veneer Doors:
Veneer Doors are crafted out of MDF board or plywood and are finished with a layer of veneer on the top. The use of veneers give a free hand in terms of designs and styles that can truly make the door unique and catchy. The veneer on the top gives these doors a really smooth surface and the desired durability and shock resistance. Veneer doors are also swell-proof and impervious to termite and borer infestation.

3. PVC Doors:
PVC doors are crafted out of PVC sheets and are known to be very light. But that does not mean that these doors are not durable. PVC, as a chemical, is not affected by exposure to UV, chemicals and does not rust at all, which makes PVC Doors a perfect fit for outdoor use. These doors show an unparalleled resistance to heat and fire while withstanding tremendous amount of pressure and impact.

4. Metal Doors:
Crafted from cast metal like iron, these doors are synonymous to strength and are highly durable. However, metal doors need to be painted before being used, as iron gets rusted on long exposures to moisture and water. These doors in general are heavy, which makes any repair work a tedious task. Metal Doors need frequent oiling as well for smooth functioning.

We hope that the information has thrown enough light on the most common doors that we see in the market. The few things that need to be kept in mind while picking the right door for yourself are your budget, the place of application and the weather conditions of the surroundings, as these factors affect the performance of the doors.

How To Make Small Bedrooms Look More Organised?

Our day begins and ends in our bedroom, so keeping it organised makes sense. A cluttered bed, messy floor and overflowing drawers (of the dresser) in the bedroom can make anyone feel frazzled. The feeling could be more intensive, if it’s a small bedroom. However, there are ways to maximise the space, in order to make it look more beautiful, presentable and organised.

Below are some ways to tidy up small bedrooms.

Find a bed with storage

While purchasing a bed, consider investing in the one with storage space underneath. You can either buy a bed with in-built storage or create your own. It is a perfect place for storing out-of-season clothes and other items that are not required on daily basis. You can also use under-bed containers to help you with proper organisation.

Get a multipurpose furniture

Having a nightstand beside your bed is not an absolute necessity. If you have a small room, you can consider placing your dresser by your bedside that will serve the purpose of a nightstand too. You can also have a nightstand which is small enough to fit into the tight corner, but big enough to be used as a temporary desk when paired with a small chair. In short, you can have a nightstand that serves a variety of uses.
If you are willing to have a bench at the foot of your bed, you can double up its utility by investing in the one with storage capabilities. Whatever furniture piece you install, make sure it is made from a good quality wooden material. You can use laminates or veneer sheets to give your furniture an elegant yet a stylish look. Decorative veneers and laminates can also be considered for this purpose.

Rethink your closet design

A closet contributes to the overall organisation of a bedroom. You can generate more space in your existing closet only by adding more shelf or drawer units in it to accommodate extra items. Modifying the current closet requires a good quality plywood and a little bit of ideation. Moreover, plan the placements of items in your closet in such a way that most used items are positioned at the front and centre, while the rest can be kept in upper shelves.

Utilise your wall space

In small bedrooms, walls play a significant role when it comes to creating an organised space. You can utilise your wall in the best possible way by adding shelves, attaching a rack or creating a peg board over it. You can then use it for keeping your books or holding jewelry, stoles and other stuff.

Don’t forget the doors

If you think that you have utilised every possible space present in your room for storing and keeping your stuff organised, don’t forget you have doors too. Installing over-the-door racks, organisers and shoe cubbies over doors can create a great storage space.
Less space is no longer a limitation for those who wish to have a beautiful and well-organised bedroom. Follow the above given tips and transform your bedroom the way you desire it to be.

Interesting Ways To Utilise The Space Under Staircase

Apart from connecting different floors, a staircase rarely serves any purpose. Its underneath space is mostly considered as a dead space, however, that space can actually be utilised effectively. From being a spot to enjoy reading at to becoming a play space for the little ones, the area under stairs can serve purposes.

Below are some tips to make the most of this often under-utilised space:

Reading spot

The little space under the stairs is ideal for creating a cozy reading corner at your home. You can accent the space with comfy throw pillows, few decorative items and a collection of books. You can also have a storage cabinet underneath the reading seat for keeping your books. A reading spot like this will prove to be a great place to unwind at.

Kid’s corner

our kids would appreciate the idea of having a separate space for them. You can either turn the area into a playful kid’s corner or their homework spot. Install a small wooden bed in the area or a highly functional study table. You can further accentuate the space with some art pieces, stuff toys and pillows.

While purchasing the furniture for your kids, make sure it is made up of good quality plywood. Kids don’t understand how cheap or expensive a furniture can be. They may use it rough while playing. However, furniture made using marine plywood is resistant from heat, dust and termites to give your kids a good play time.

Storage System

Traditionally, the spot under the stairs was used for hanging coats and placing boots, but no one likes to use it that way now. You can turn it into a sophisticated storage system where you can slot bags, jackets, shoes and much more.

Home Office

Instead of devoting an entire room to home office, you can carve out a small office nook under the stairs. It will act as your personal space for dealing with your office work. You can have a small furniture fitted in that area, like a simple desk and wall shelves to perform tasks with ease.

Home Bar

The ingenious space under the stairs can be utilised for storing all your bar essentials in a simple yet beautiful manner. You can install a showy furniture in the area to make the space more like a luxury mini bar. In order to add more beauty to your bar furniture, you may consider using veneer sheets or laminates.

In these ways you can put under-the-stairs area at your home to good use. In fact, the burden of space constraints at home can completely be reduced by utilising the space below stairs.
